Hello, I’m Diane and have been part of Amy’s team of Pilates & Yoga instructors at the Serenity Barn for 18 months. It is a lovely venue in the Warwickshire countryside. My Pilates journey started over 15 years ago when Pilates was “new” to the majority of people. After a few sessions I was “hooked” and have not looked back. When the opportunity to re-train to become a Pilates came back in 2009 I took it and after several months training both at a dedicated Pilates Studio and Warwickshire College in Henley in Arden I qualified as a Pilates instructor in 2010, taking over the class I used to attend…..

My Journey

Over the years I have completed many training courses to update my skills as well as increasing the amount I teach and variety of venues and clients. Teaching in Sports Centres, Private Gyms, Village Halls, Pilates Studios and Physiotherapy Clinics. Many of my clients stay with me for many years. I enjoy passing on my knowledge to my clients and seeing how Pilates helps them whether it’s helping to recover from an operation, improve their flexibility or just help them relax and feel better in themselves.

Over the last 2 years I have been learning more about Posture, Breathing and the Pelvic Floor (Full Body approach to Training the Pelvic Floor Muscles). I introduce some of these exercises within my classes as well as using small Pilates equipment to enhance your Pilates experience.

My classes concentrate not only on the Pilates movements but also on the breathing techniques that help you get the most out of your Pilates practise. Each session begins with breathing exercises and mobility exercises before flowing into the main session which will vary from week to week. Classes end with a short relaxation to prepare for the rest of your day. Pilates promotes strength and balanced muscle development as well as flexibility and increased range of motion for the joints. Pilates focuses on each breath and movement, this helps to provide an overall level of fitness. Because of the controlled movements, Pilates is favoured by many for assisting in rehabilitation after injury. It is also suitable for all ages, mixed abilities and men as well as women.
